Syracuse running back LeQuint Allen Jr. and defensive lineman Fadil Diggs have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Players of the Week, the conference announced in a release Monday. Allen Jr. earned Running Back of the Week while Diggs was the Defensive Lineman of the Week. The honors come after SU’s upset win over then-No. 25 UNLV Friday.

Allen Jr. posted his best performance of his junior season against the Rebels, totaling 71 yards and two touchdowns on the ground with nine receptions, 58 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

SU’s running back had his biggest moments in the clutch. In the fourth quarter, Allen Jr. broke a tackle on a fourth-and-1, breaking free for an 11-yard rush with 1:04 left to play. The Orange tied the game a few plays later with a Kyle McCord throw to Jackson Meeks, sending the game to overtime. In overtime, Allen Jr. carried a defender into the end zone on a first-and-goal rush from UNLV’s one-yard line, scoring a touchdown to win the game.

Diggs, an edge rusher, also gained recognition from the league following his two-sack game. Along with six total tackles, Diggs started out overtime by sacking Hajj-Malik Williams on third-and-4 for a three-yard loss to force a field goal. Through five games with the Orange, the Texas A&M transfer has already tied his season-high total for sacks, totaling four.

Allen Jr. and Diggs are the fifth and sixth Syracuse players to earn ACC weekly honors in 2024. Linebacker Marlowe Wax earned the honor after his Week 1 performance while McCord and left tackle Da’Metrius Weatherspoon won weekly awards after SU’s Week 2 win over then-No. 23 Georgia Tech. Meeks was named the conference’s Wide Receiver of the Week following a big day versus Holy Cross.
