Syracuse University launched a faculty council to strengthen graduate education, the university announced Monday.

Faculty from each of SU’s schools and colleges will serve on the Graduate Faculty Council, according to an SU News release. The council’s focus is to further diversity and inclusion among graduate students and support graduate student success.

Committee members will work with Graduate School Dean Peter Vanable to develop the initiatives. The council will also give feedback on graduate school policies and procedures that affect student funding and student mentoring, Vanable said in the release.

Each SU school and college nominated and selected faculty members to serve on the committee.  Selected members demonstrated excellence in graduate level teaching and mentoring, according to the release. Vanable approved the committee members with faculty department chairs and deans.
